Guiding our vision is our founder, Graham Gosden, whose extensive expertise spans over three decades in design and engineering for live touring and fixed installations. Graham’s pioneering contributions to the lighting and audio industries have set benchmarks in research and development, continually pushing the boundaries of audio-visual technology integration.
Graham’s entrepreneurial journey began with a keen eye for opportunity and a passion for delivering excellence. Apt-GB emerged from his relentless pursuit of a market gap, a void where discerning customers sought high-quality, bespoke products tailored to their unique AV requirements. Graham recognised that his customers craved not just any product, but ones crafted with precision and care. Moreover, there was a distinct preference for products made locally in the UK, where quality and craftsmanship are revered.
Armed with this knowledge, Graham set out to build Apt-GB, a brand synonymous with superior quality and personalised service. From sourcing materials of the highest caliber to partnering with skilled artisans, every step was meticulously planned to ensure excellence in every aspect of the business.
But Graham’s journey didn’t stop there. Embracing innovation and creativity, he continuously sought ways to enhance the customer experience, offering a variety of customisation options, high quality connectors and expanding the product range to cater to evolving consumer tastes.
As we celebrate this milestone, our commitment to innovation remains unwavering. The Apt-GB portfolio continues to evolve, offering responsive solutions tailored to diverse customer requirements. Among our innovations is >Teleprompter.Video, the Musician’s Teleprompter, discreetly revolutionising the touring market with its seamless integration and covert design. Designed to resemble a stage monitor, its creation was simply to help promote and demonstrate our very own stage monitor range at PLASA Leeds in 2014.
With its sleek and minimalist LCD screen design, our >Teleprompter.Video looks identical to a stage monitor in every way blending seamlessly on stage. Almost an unintentional and accidental creation born out of sheer luck but which the industry was craving for in so many ways. A product that gave engineers and musicians something discreet but crucially tour-worthy and robust. A “comfort-monitor” to coin an American phrase that gave artists and tour managers piece of mind when on stage. A product now firmly established as “industry-standard” by many leading industry peers across the AV world. That’s some journey.
We’ve also been on an environmental journey here at Apt-GB with a commitment that began in 2018 with the installation of a small solar array on our workshop’s roof. Our latest CNC machine has been a cutting-edge addition to our workshop operating three times faster than our previous model, boosting productivity while significantly reducing our carbon footprint. We’ve also made significant investments, including:
- Transitioning to paper box tape
- Utilising recycled plastic packaging and foam corners
- Expanding our solar panel array and integrating storage batteries
- Upgrading to a more efficient air compressor, reducing stain usage by approximately 50%
- Installing an air source heat pump to heat our office space
- Bringing more manufacturing processes in-house, such as metalwork and plastic cutting
- Adopting solvent-free paints and stains
